Projects in The Churchill Group:
I am Outreach Coordinator for the Center for Genome Dynamics. I co-teach the Center’s Independent Studies in Computational Biology course, a research course for talented high school students from three science and mathematics magnet schools. During the summer, I provide computational support to the Center’s student interns. I am also working toward placing videotaped lectures and supporting content from the Short Course on Systems Genetics online in a free, publicly available format.
Prior to joining the Center, I worked in bioinformatics with Mouse Genome Informatics (MGI). I offered training to researchers at the Jackson Laboratory and at many institutions across the country. I also coordinated MGI’s Diversity Action Plan.
In my first career I taught Advanced Placement Biology, Biology, and Physics at American schools in Mexico and the Dominican Republic. I left the teaching profession to obtain a M.S. In Computational Biology in 2003.
